About Gurdwara Sri Kiara Sahib Jee

Gurudwara Sri Kiara Sahib is situated at a distance of one and a half kilometres from Gurdwara Janam Asthan. Of course it was then outskirts of Nankana Sahib giving a picture of a kind of jungle. According to Janam Sakhi, when Guru Nanak was yet a young man, he was sent to graze cattle. While resting underneath a shady tree, Guru was immersed in deep thoughts and the cattle went astray in the fields of other farmer.

After seeing all that the farmer got angry and decided to claim the damage done by cattle of then young Nanak. The clamoring made by the peasant disturbed the young Nanak waking him from his trance. Recognizing the the son of the village’s patwari, he made a complaint to Rai Bular who went with the farmer to see the damage. But contrary to his complaint he saw the field that had been trampled more than before that surprised everyone to find no damage at all. It is said that this is the place where Rai Bular started recognizing him as supreme human being after the same Babay Nanky did.

The Guru took the cattle towards his house. On his return, the Guru just had a kind look at the fields which turned greener than before. By watching this miracle, the Hindus and the Muslims revered the Guru. This Gurdwara is situated in that historical field. The building is large.

The building of Gurdwara is still there but it is supposed to have a new Gurdwara construction soon – for the time being Parkash has been taken to an adjacent building. A boundary wall and a Sarovar has been built around the whole field. After the partition of 1947, This Gurdwara came under the Pakistan Waqf Board.
